Yonathan Zohar, Professor and Chair, Marine Biotechnology

Yonathan Zohar is an internationally recognized expert in basic and applied aspects of fish reproductive physiology and endocrinology. His groundbreaking research has led to more than a dozen U.S. and international patents and millions of dollars in federal grants. He is the author of numerous widely cited publications. As the director of UMBC’s Aquaculture Research Center, Zohar mentors the next generation of researchers, including graduate and undergraduate students and high school interns. He received his B.Sc. in biology and M.Sc. in oceanography from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his Ph.D. in comparative endocrinology from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris, France.
