Nichole Zang Do is known as a friendly, knowledgeable colleague who goes above and beyond for her department and UMBC. Seeking to help advise undergraduate students not yet assigned an advisor, she proactively learned the major’s requirements and advising process. Zang Do has become a patient, caring advisor, and now also advises the more than 50 students per semester whose advisors are on sabbatical. In addition, she volunteers at orientation, helping new students select classes and answering questions about UMBC. She is also the department’s Maryland Charity Campaign liaison. Zang Do earned her B.S. in public history from Stevenson University and her M.A. in historical studies from UMBC.
