Lindsay DiCuirci
Associate Professor, English
Lindsay DiCuirci is an Associate Professor of English and Graduate Program Director for the MA in Texts, Technologies, and Literature. She joined the UMBC faculty in 2011 after receiving her Ph.D. at The Ohio State University in early American literature. Much of her teaching springs from her fascination with book history and print culture as well as paranormal, controversial, or banned books in the early U.S. Lindsay teaches courses ranging from “American Ghost Stories” and “Dangerous Reading” to “Early African American Print” and “The Secret Lives of Books.” As a two-time Hrabowski Innovation Grant recipient and three-time CoLab leader, Lindsay has helped cultivate project-based and applied learning opportunities for students, especially in the Humanities. In collaboration with UMBC Special Collections Librarian Lindsey Loeper, she established Hilltop Print Shop, a letterpress lab for teaching historic bookmaking practices. Lindsay also led a pedagogy workshop series for five years through the Dresher Center’s Inclusion Imperative program and most recently launched UMBC’s first BookFest, a two-day celebration of writers, readers, makers, and advocates.
