Joby Taylor, Ph.D. ’05
Assistant Vice Provost, Shriver Center
Joby Taylor is Assistant Vice Provost at UMBC, co-leading The Shriver Center for Public Service and Community Engagement in its mission to address critical social challenges by bridging campus and community through engaged scholarship and learning. The Center cultivates partnerships and supports program pathways for students of all levels and majors, and collaborates with faculty and staff across the institution. Joby is a founding faculty member and senior advisor to the Community Leadership Program and Affiliate Professor in Language, Literacy, & Culture, and has taught and guided research in numerous other disciplines. He recently co-chaired UMBC’s Carnegie Community Engagement reclassification, and currently co-leads the public initiative Reimagining the Harbor as a Hub. Joby lives in Baltimore with his family and, as those who know him can attest, he loves leading anyone who is up for it on city excursions, storytracking hidden histories and uncovering the myriad gems of our Charm City.
